Work The Gap
Find the space between two things and work in it; stop before anything fills it.
Formerly Gap
A story told in fragments — the white space carries it.

Try it on your work
Make the next thing with one necessary part deliberately missing, and present or use it anyway. Stop when someone, possibly you, supplies the missing part unprompted. What they supplied is data.
Explain your project completely except for one central term, which you never say. What the listener guesses fills the hole tells you what shape the hole has.
Leave one stage of your plan explicitly empty: named, scheduled, undefined. Run the plan toward it, and note what has grown to fill it by the time it arrives.
How it has been used
Work in the space between: the panel gutter in comics, the rest in music, the room between two buildings. The in-between has its own properties. The move forbids filling it: the gap is the material, and closing it destroys the material.
