Try it on your work
Make five quick compositions from the same six elements, each time drawing one element at random to leave out. Stop after five; then make one with all six.
Describe one object five times, each time leaving out one of the five senses, drawn at random. Stop after five; then write one description with all five.
A team of five meets five times; each time one member, drawn by lot, sits out. Stop after five meetings; the sixth has everyone.
How it has been used
Work each round with a different part missing, chosen by chance, and put everything back at the end: the band rehearsing with one player sitting out each time, the layout tried each round without one element, the dish cooked each day without one ingredient. The move forbids leaving anything out for good.
